Volunteering
Thank you so much for your interest in supporting the work of Omagh Women’s Aid in Northern Ireland.
At Omagh Women’s Aid, we are dedicated to addressing and preventing domestic abuse against women and children in our community. Our mission is to eliminate domestic abuse in all its forms, while also challenging the harmful attitudes, behaviours and societal norms that allow it to continue. We believe in a world where women and children can live free from fear and harm.
Our approach is rooted in the principles of empowerment, mutual support and solidarity — for women, with women, by women. We provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment where women can regain control of their lives, rebuild their confidence, and move forward with hope.
The Power of Volunteering
Volunteering is central to the work we do at Omagh Women’s Aid. We truly value the time, energy and skills that our volunteers bring, and we believe that involving volunteers strengthens our services and helps us reach more women and families in need.
Whether you have just a few hours a week or more time to give, we will work with you to find a role that suits your availability, interests and experience. Volunteering with us offers a meaningful opportunity to make a positive impact, while also gaining new skills, building confidence, and becoming part of a supportive, passionate team.
Support Every Step of the Way
All our volunteers receive comprehensive training, ongoing guidance and dedicated support. We want you to feel confident, prepared and valued in whatever role you choose. Many of our volunteers tell us that the experience is personally enriching and rewarding, and we are committed to ensuring that your time with us is both impactful and fulfilling.
Volunteer Roles
We regularly offer a range of volunteering opportunities that support our work and community outreach. These roles may include:
- Administration Support – Helping with day-to-day office tasks, data entry, and maintaining records.
- Court Support – Providing emotional support and practical assistance to women attending court proceedings.
- Fundraising and Events – Assisting with organising fundraising activities, awareness events and community engagement.
- Lobbying and Campaigning – Supporting our efforts to influence policy and raise public awareness about domestic abuse and women’s rights.
Whether you’re looking to give back, gain experience in the women’s sector, or support a cause close to your heart, your time and contribution can help make real change.
